Hello and welcome to Dirty Maintenance Nation! I created this site to provide value and to share ideas with new and veteran maintenance technicians. I want to include office staff members as well! A successful property requires maintenance and office staff to work as a unified team. I will also share money saving tips and knowledge that took my savings account from $0.00 to $30,000 dollars in 4 years! 2006 – 2010.
My name is Lex and I am currently a maintenance technician. I started in the apartment maintenance industry in 2003. I began my maintenance journey as a porter picking up trash and painting. I didn’t even know the difference between a flat head and a phillips-head screwdriver when I started. It’s been a wild ride and I’ve seen a lot of stuff over the years in this business. And even though I took a break and hit the road touring with a band full-time for four years, I kept my maintenance chops sharp by working around my own house and doing side jobs.
Since I’ve started my YouTube show The Dirty Maintenance Show, I’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible response it has gotten. I had no idea that it would become what it has become. Maintenance technicians from around the world watch the show and I’ve learned so much from my viewers. I don’t know everything nor do I claim to. If there’s a better and faster way to do something, please tell me. I want to know about it! That’s why I created this site, Dirty Maintenance Nation. A one stop shop for all your maintenance needs. And office needs too! If there’s something less annoying than Yardi, please leasing agents, LET ME KNOW! I want it on the site.
I really enjoy reading about finance and watching repair videos on YouTube. I was a fan of repair videos way before I started making them. I also enjoy reading the comments and discussions that other people have. I hope to use this blog to educate and inform others and myself about finance, maintenance, piling cash and personal development. Enjoy!
